I resisted buying this product because of the cost. But after 2 or 3 years of buying useless throw-away curling brush/irons I decided to take another chance with this styling brush/iron.I searched the internet for consumer reviews of this product but they were practically non-existent and the few reviews I read did not come close to answering my questions. I have used a similar styling brush, a Braun shaper/styler that used energy cells, for about 25 years since Braun introduced it. Braun finally discontinued that product and no longer would even support it by offering the energy cells it required for use. The Tron is even better than my beloved Braun styler/shaper brush iron that I've always used as a comparison with the many products I've used in trying to find a replacement.I have a short layered hair style and my hair is fine and thinning. The Tron does everything it says it does. The 3/4 barrel is perfect for short and medium hair lengths. It is powerful enough for thick, heavy hair and because of the various heat settings, it is gentle enough for short and thinning hair. It's the only brush/iron I've tried in my search for the "right" one that doesn't snarl my hair. It's extremely powerful and heats up almost immediately and with the multiple temperature settings everyone should be able to use at least one or two of the heat settings comfortably. I think it would be impossible to burn your scalp or face because of the way it's made. Unlike most other stylers of this type, it will grab even short and thin hair and hold on to it. It can create a smooth hair style or can be used to add body where you want and you can also create soft or tighter curls. It can even be used on hair that is not freshly shampooed that has styling product already on the hair making it great for touch-ups. Have you ever wondered why most manufacturers of this type of product always make the barrel so long when it's so unnecessary. This barrel is the perfect length and surprising to me, it's about the same length as my old Braun. Braun got that right because you never could use the entire length of a curling brush and most companies have never figured out the extra useless barrel length only makes it more difficult to use. Tron got this right as well!I know this review is long but I hope I've answered questions for those of you who, like me, have been searching for the perfect styling brush/iron. For me, the question I always ask myself is what could be done to improve this product. Honestly, I couldn't think of one single thing that could have been done better or improved upon. I love this perfect tool so much that I'm seriously considering ordering another. Braun has made me fearful that anything I love and am loyal to will disappear. Most manufacturers are seemingly clueless about products of this type and in my opinion every single brush/iron I tried were only clones of each other. This is the first truly innovative product I've tried that actually works as it should and as advertised. Yes, the Tron is pricey but I know if I added up the cost of all the many products I've purchased and ended up throwing because they simply did not work for me, the Tron would have been cost effective in the long run.The Tion Brush Iron does a good job of smoothing my fine, shorter hair that is naturally frizzy. The design makes it easy to hold and wrap around the hair. You can still touch hot metal, but the likelihood is reduced because of the design. It heats up very fast. I have learned to keep it on the lower settings as it will fry my hair if I don't. I also do not linger on any one hair section for the same reason. And I cannot use it everyday with my hair type, even on the lowest setting. I'm sure it would be great for someone with healthier hair that does not tend to be very dry, like mine.Another reviewer mentioned this tip,and I thought it would be worth mentioning again if you don't read all reviews: in order to change the heat setting, you need to hold down the on/off button while making the selection. This was not intuitive for me and I appreciated the other reviewer's mention since it is not addressed in the instruction booklet.I give 4 stars here because i got a larger size than the one I ordered. Amazon gave me a discount to keep it, which is OK since I am trying to grow my hair. So right now, I am not getting nice curls from this tool because it is too big around for my current haircut..In my experience, it's pretty difficult to get a decent hot styling tool for under $100. I had a cheap brush iron that I really liked until it died after a few months. I can't stand curling irons with clamps because they snag my fine hair, and I never got the hang of wands. Reviews of other hot brushes were all pretty bad, with many complaints of broken teeth, etc., so I decided to spend extra money on this one.My iron didn't come with a manual, so you really need to watch the videos -- http://www.tronhair.com/tion-brush-iron-video-tips/The controls confused me at first, because it blinks when it's -ready- not, like other tools, where the light blinks and then turns solid when hot. It heats up extremely fast. You need to hold the button down to change temperatures and turn off which is actually a great design feature. It's really annoying to have an iron shut off or change temperatures while you are in the middle of using it.I got my hair tangled in it right away. After watching the video, it was pretty obvious why. So, spend 5 minutes checking out their website and you will be very pleased! However, it says it's a dryer which I cannot imagine. It does not blow hot hair (I have one of these too - it's called a hot air brush). If you used this on wet hair I would think it would fry your hair. I dry mine first and use a heat protector.Found one of these in my mother-in-law's bathroom. Looked it up and saw these were significantly more expensive than ones I've seen in store. I think this is due to every other row of the individual teeth being coated in titanium (?) rather than silicone/plastic which makes it a bit more durable and smooths out more strands of hair. Honestly I wish this was a little less expensive but it's definitely higher quality than other brush and curling irons I've used so I decided to keep it.It's super easy to use and way less maintenance/work than using a round brush and hair dryer. My low-maintenance regimen is 1) towel dry hair/blow dry hair until mostly dry, 3) messily rub in some hair serum or heat protection serum/oil, 4) blow dry or air dry more until 90-95% dry, 5) put this thing on lowest heat and comb through to ends until everything looks ok, 6) done!
